SUMMARY:Functional Dry Needling: Upper Quadrant Level 1
DESCRIPTION:Course Description:\n\n\n\nFunctional Dry Needling (FDN) Upper Quadrant 1 is an intermediate level course that teaches technical proficiency in foundational dry needling techniques for the upper quadrant. This course gives clinicians the tools to elevate their practice and fosters confidence and competence to integrate dry needling into practice the very next day. Musculature taught includes cervical spine\, shoulder\, upper extremity and hand. Anatomy\, safety\, precautions\, and psychomotor aspects of needling are reinforced alongside instruction in history\, supportive evidence\, and clinical application and reasoning. FDN Upper Quadrant 1 is a hybrid learning experience that integrates online learning prior to the lab-based weekend intensive. \n\n\n\nImportant Considerations:\n\n\n\nThis course is for practitioners who want content solely on management of upper quadrant dysfunction (shoulder\, elbow\, wrist\, hand) \n\n\n\nIf you are a practitioner wanting content that covers management of upper and lower quadrant consider taking FDN Level 1 instead \n\n\n\nCourse Objectives\n\n\n\nBy the end of the course\, a successful participant will be able to: \n\n\n\n\nDescribe the practice of Functional Dry Needling\, including how this adjunctive treatment can influence functional outcomes for patient\n\n\n\nIsolate and prioritize deficit areas of UE body functions to target with FDN based on patient identified limitations in daily activities\n\n\n\nApply solid clinical reasoning in the application of Functional Dry Needling\n\n\n\nDescribe the appropriate use of percutaneous electrical stimulation with Functional Dry Needling for enhanced outcomes\n\n\n\nDemonstrate safe\, effective\, and appropriate application of Functional Dry Needling\n\n\n\nDiscuss the scope of practice\, functional benefits\, and advocacy considerations regarding dry needling\n\n\n\nDiscuss evidence-based\, patient-centered intervention case scenarios that reflect best clinical practice in Functional Dry Needling\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP Today\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvidence in Motion is an AOTA Approved Provider of professional development. PD activity approval ID# 6811. This blended/hybrid activity is offered at 35 Contact hours/3.5 CEUs Intermediate\, OT Service Delivery/Professional Issues/Foundational Knowledge. SUMMARY:MSKU-2: Diagnostic Musculoskeletal Ultrasound of the Lower Extremities
DESCRIPTION:Course Description:\n\n\n\nDiagnostic Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (MSKU) is an evidence-based\, cost-efficient\, imaging modality. MSKU has diagnostic accuracy comparable to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for common soft tissue pathology\, including enthesopathy\, tendinopathy\, ligament pathology\, joint pathology\, and compressive neuropathies of the lower extremities. Licensed healthcare professionals including physical therapists (PT)\, medical doctors (MD)\, osteopathic doctors (DO)\, Chiropractors (DC)\, physician assistants (PA)\, and nurse practitioners (NP) meet the educational requirements to practice MSKU and work towards the prerequisites needed to sit for the national registry exam in musculoskeletal sonography (RMSK). \n\n\n\nThis two-day live diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound course includes 70% hands-on practical training and 30% didactic instruction. This course focuses on the essential components of diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound of the lower extremity. Participants will perform diagnostic ultrasound on the hip\, knee\, ankle\, and foot. Both normal anatomy and pathology of specific tissues will be addressed in detail. This course does include but is not limited to tissue specific diagnoses of the lower extremity\, including joint effusions\, hip capsule/labral pathology\, gluteal/hamstring tendinopathy\, patellar/quad tendinopathy\, patellar impingement syndromes\, collateral ligament pathology\, meniscal pathology\, osteoarthritis\, achilles/peroneal/posterior tibialis tendinopathy\, and plantar fasciitis. \n\n\n\nLecture and live demonstrations with expert sonographers\, using state-of-the-art equipment\, are utilized to prepare the participant for extensive scanning during the laboratory sessions. The upper and lower extremity courses (MSKU-1 & 2) combined with the Physics in MSK ultrasound (MSKU-3) and RMSK Registry Exam Preparation & Review (MSKU-4) courses are designed to successfully prepare the participant for the national RMSK registry exam. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nRSVP Today
