Gaitley. Topic: “Concussion Care: Strategies for Returning to Sport and School Post-Injury.” Dr. Gaitley will discuss concussion diagnosis and management and the collaborative approach to return to school and sport for athletes. Attendees will gain insights into evidence-based practices for ensuring safe and effective recovery. \n\n\n\n10:30 AM–11:00 AM: Presentation by Lauren K. Walsh Topic: “Concussion Comeback: The Updated Playbook for Care.” Lauren Krasner Walsh will present the latest research regarding rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols. Gaitley\, MDDr. Gaitley is from Michigan and earned her medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit. After medical school\, she completed a pediatric residency and primary care sports medicine fellowship at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland. She has been a team physician for high schools and colleges and provided medical coverage for the Cleveland Marathon\, the Cleveland Triathlon\, and statewide youth soccer tournaments. She enjoys working with children and teenagers to get them back into the activities they love. \n\n\n\nAbout  Lauren K. Walsh\, MS\, ATC\, CSCSLauren Walsh is the Athletic Trainer and Program Manager for Barrow NeurologicalInstitute’s Barrow Concussion Network in Phoenix\, Arizona. Her work focuses on providing injury prevention\, education\, post-concussion care\, and tools to student-athletes regardless of time\, distance\, and socioeconomic status. Additionally\, she has a strength and conditioning\, mindfulness\, and performance psychology background and is recognized as a Concussion Qualified Medical Professional. Lauren graduated from Northern Arizona University with a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training and the University of Florida with her Master’s in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology and is anticipated to graduate from Grand Canyon University in Spring 2025 with her PhD in Performance Psychology. She is a leader within Arizona and at Barrow for concussion prevention. She is currently the Vice President of the Arizona Athletic Trainers’ Association and is a passionate advocate for appropriate preventative and post-injury athletic healthcare.
