POSITION OVERVIEW
The Head Sports Performance Coach will lead our sports performance department, designing and implementing training programs that maximize athletic performance and minimize injury risk. This role requires a visionary leader with a strong background in sports performance, a passion for developing athletes, and exceptional leadership skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Program Development and Implementation:
- Design and oversee individualized and group sports performance programs tailored to the needs of athletes across various sports and skill levels.
- Utilize data-driven approaches and performance metrics to refine and enhance training programs continuously.
- Stay current with the latest research and trends in sports performance to ensure innovative and effective training methods.
- Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of sports performance coaches and support staff.
- Conduct and attend regular staff meetings, training, and evaluations to ensure team alignment and professional growth.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, encouraging professional development and team cohesion.
- Athlete Assessment and Development:
- Perform comprehensive assessments of athletes’ physical capabilities, strengths, and areas for improvement.
- Develop and adjust training plans based on assessment results and ongoing performance monitoring.
- Work closely with athletes to set goals, track progress, and provide feedback and motivation.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with sports coaches, medical teams, performance coaches, ATCs, the Sports Institute’s physical therapists, and other departments within Spooner and the sports medicine field to create integrated training and rehabilitation plans.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, coaches, and parents to ensure alignment on training goals and expectations.
- Provide educational workshops and seminars on sports performance topics as needed.
- Facility Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and functionality of the sports performance facility and equipment.
- Ensure a safe and clean training environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Manage the budget for sports performance resources and equipment.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of training programs, athlete progress, and performance data.
- Prepare and present reports on training outcomes and program effectiveness to senior management.
- Assist in recruiting and onboarding new staff as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Sports Medicine, Kinesiology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Certification from a recognized organization (e.g., NSCA-CSCS, NASM, ACSM) is required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sports performance, with a preferred 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful sports performance programs.
- Strong understanding of sports science, biomechanics, and injury prevention strategies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with athletes, coaches, and staff in a dynamic environment.
- Commitment to continuing education and professional development in the field.
