SPOONER MOVEMENT PLUS FAQS

Below are some of the most common questions our members ask about the Movement Plus program. Please contact us at movementplus@spoonerpt.com if you have questions about how Movement Plus can help you or if you have a question that is not addressed here. Our goal is to help you achieve optimal health in movement.

FAQS

Why should I come to you when I can just go to urgent care?

Choosing therapy first can save you both time and money. Our team of licensed experts provides clear advice quickly—without the unnecessary costs of imaging, prescriptions, or delayed referrals that are common in the traditional medical model.

Urgent care centers are staffed by generalists and primarily function as triage. At Movement Plus, our Spooner therapists are licensed musculoskeletal specialists. When patients see us first, we provide an efficient and precise plan, often avoiding one or two unnecessary specialist visits before therapy is eventually recommended anyway.

If the issue is not musculoskeletal or cannot be addressed efficiently in therapy, we guide patients to the right next step and connect them with resources to make the process smooth. Because Spooner therapists are trained to screen for a wide range of medical concerns, we are often the most effective and efficient first stop—helping you get on the right path faster while saving both time and money.

What types of advice does a Spooner therapist offer?

Spooner therapists can help with any injury or healthcare question. A physical therapist or occupational therapist is an expert at diagnosing musculoskeletal conditions, much of which can be done through an in-person evaluation at a Spooner clinic. If care outside of therapy is needed, we guide you toward the best option for your situation.

Is there a Spooner app?

Yes! The Spooner PT app is available for download here:

What features come with the Spooner app?

The Spooner PT app allows you to:

  • Access your personalized home exercise program

  • Self-schedule appointments

  • Chat with your Spooner therapist(s)

To use the app, your Spooner therapist must first assign you a home exercise program and create your profile. If you do not yet have access, simply ask your therapist to get you set up.

👉 Important: Membership management (e.g., billing, session carryover, plan changes) is not handled in the Spooner app. To manage your Movement Plus membership, please log in to the Movement Plus web portal.

When can members contact a Spooner therapist?

Messaging is available at any time. Some questions can be answered through the app, while others may require an in-person visit at a Spooner clinic.

How often can members reach out?

As often as needed. No question is too small. Even in emergencies—where immediate medical attention should always come first—we encourage you to keep us in the loop so we can support your recovery afterward.

How quickly can members expect a response?

Messaging in the Spooner app works like texting. We respond as quickly as possible. For urgent concerns, sending a detailed message and requesting a call back is the fastest way to connect.

If I’m already seeing a Spooner therapist in a clinic, can I message them in the app?

Yes. If you are actively receiving care in a Spooner clinic, your in-clinic therapist is your primary source for treatment questions. Spooner therapists also provide support for scheduling, exercise program access, and general care navigation.

What if I need more than 5 sessions in a month?

Our memberships are designed for flexibility and long-term health. Each package includes individualized programming to enhance in-clinic treatment. If you need more than 5 sessions, additional visits can be added at discounted member pricing.

Can one session per month be enough?

Yes. Even a single session can be highly effective. In one visit, a Spooner therapist can deliver precision treatment, outline an individualized exercise program, and provide guidance to reduce pain and improve movement. For more complex needs, additional sessions can be added at member pricing to fit your goals and schedule.

Can sessions carry over? What does a max of 10 mean?

Yes. With Achieve and Excel memberships, unused sessions roll over to the next billing cycle—up to a maximum of 10.

Example: An Excel member who uses 3 of 5 sessions in one month will have 7 available the following month. Once 10 sessions have rolled over, no additional carryover is added until some are used.

For special situations—such as preparing for surgery—our team can help you plan your visit schedule to maximize carryover and recovery support.

Can I change plans monthly?

Yes. Memberships are flexible and can be adjusted anytime.

  • Switching between Achieve and Excel retains up to 10 carryover visits.

  • Switching to Access clears carryover visits.

Examples:

  • A member wanting 3 visits per month may alternate between Achieve (1 visit) and Excel (5 visits).

  • A member preparing for surgery may choose Excel for a few months to “bank” visits and then use them during post-surgical recovery.

Our team can help you choose the best plan for your situation.

Can I change my membership in the app?

Yes. Membership changes are effective at the next billing cycle. Many members switch between Access, Achieve, and Excel at different times in life depending on their needs.

Can I cancel my membership in the app?

Yes. You will continue to receive benefits until the end of your current billing cycle. Any unused sessions will be forfeited after cancellation.

Can I use insurance with my membership?

Yes—with the Access Membership only. Achieve and Excel memberships are not compatible with insurance.
