Chip has played a role in training some of the top athletes in the world at Sports Institute since 2009. He is in charge of the management and implementation of Fischer Institute’s MLB and NFL off-season programs and is also the head of strength and conditioning programs for various other professional, collegiate, and high school athletes. He assists the physical therapy staff with efficiently and effectively transitioning athletes from physical therapy to sports performance training.

Chip is also the creator of the “Grounded Athlete” course, which details the principles and processes implemented at the Sports Institute when designing programs for athletes of all ages and skill levels. He had the opportunity to travel to Taiwan in 2018 and 2019 to coach and implement five Grounded Athlete courses. He was also invited to work with the coaching staff of the professional baseball team Fubon Guardians to help them implement the principles of Grounded Athlete with their athletes.

When the opportunity to partner with Cybex was presented, Chip was asked to act as one of the Sports Institute’s liaisons in the Cybex partnership. To support the relationship, Chip worked with Cybex in conducting multiple case studies and providing feedback on the equipment.

Chip was invited to speak at the NSCA Rocky Mountain Region convention where he partnered with the Sports Institute physical therapist Trent Rincon to present “Communication is the Priority…The Priority is the Athlete.” Chip and Trent spoke to the importance of communication and the information sharing process between physical therapist, athletic trainer, rehabilitation staff and strength and conditioning staff members.

Prior to his time at the Sports Institute, Chip is a graduate of Arizona State University where he was a four-year starter on the baseball team. After graduating, he was drafted and played two seasons in the Anaheim Angels minor league system. After his days of playing baseball, Chip competed in numerous 100 mile and 50-mile ultra-trail marathons. He now resides in Arizona with his wife Elisa, daughter Cienna, and son Logan.
