THE FEMALE ATHLETE PLAYBOOK
October 24 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Your body has unique needs—and understanding them can help you train, compete, recover, and stay in the game.
Join local sports medicine and performance experts for a free event created for female athletes who want to better understand their bodies and take a more informed approach to performance.
Through four focused presentations, you’ll learn how nutrition, movement, pelvic health, injury prevention, and rehabilitation work together to support performance at every stage of an athlete’s life.
Whether you are building your game, returning from an injury, or looking for ways to stay healthy throughout your season, you’ll leave with practical information you can put to work.
This event is free, but seating is limited. COMPLETE THE FORM BELOW TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT!
What You’ll Learn

TOPICS & FEATURED SPEAKERS
Under Pressure: Rethinking the Pelvic Floor in Sport and Fitness
Becca Sutton, PT, DPT, OCS, MSc, ATC
Doctor of Physical Therapy and Clinic Director
Spooner Rockwall
The pelvic floor plays an important role in much more than bladder function. It contributes to force transfer, load management, and dynamic stability throughout athletic movement.
Becca Sutton will explore the relationship between pelvic floor function, orthopedic care, and athletic performance. She will also discuss how expected and unexpected hormonal changes can affect the pelvic floor across the lifespan, along with conditions that disproportionately affect female athletes, including Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport, or RED-S.
Beyond the Statistics: Understanding and Reducing ACL Injuries in Female Athletes
Kushal Patel, MD
Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon
Orthopaedic Specialists of Dallas
Female athletes experience ACL injuries at disproportionately high rates—but risk is not determined by one factor alone.
Dr. Patel will explain why these injuries are more common among female athletes, the roles of anatomy, biomechanics, training demands, and other contributing factors, and what athletes can do to reduce modifiable risks. He will also discuss what today’s athletes should know about ACL treatment, rehabilitation, and returning to sport with confidence.
Dr. Patel is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and shoulder surgery. His experience includes treating Division I and world-class athletes and helping athletes return to high levels of competition.
Built for Her: Assessing and Reducing Injury Risk in the Female Athlete
Katie Sloma, PT, DPT, CSCS
Research Physical Therapist
Movement Science Lab Frisco
Scottish Rite for Children
Female athletes can demonstrate movement patterns that influence both performance and lower-extremity injury risk.
Katie Sloma will explain what clinicians evaluate during jumping, landing, cutting, and other athletic tasks. Using examples from sport-specific assessments, she will show how factors such as quadriceps-dominant movement strategies and dynamic knee valgus can inform individualized exercises and recommendations.
Athletes and parents will learn how a comprehensive movement assessment can help identify modifiable risk factors and guide strategies for safer, stronger performance.
Katie is a former collegiate softball athlete whose clinical and research interests include biomechanics, injury prevention, and return-to-play decision-making. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts and presented nationally on ACL rehabilitation, softball outcomes, and return-to-play assessment.
Fueling Her Performance: Nutrition for the Female Athlete
Kaylie Campbell, MS, RDN, CSSD, LD
Sports Dietitian
Curis Functional Health, Rockwall and Plano
Training harder cannot make up for consistently underfueling.
Kaylie Campbell will discuss the nutritional needs of female athletes, including important nutrients, fueling around training and competition, and how the menstrual cycle may influence nutrition needs. She will also address the importance of developing a sustainable relationship with food and body image.
A former collegiate soccer player, Kaylie has eight years of experience helping female and collegiate athletes translate nutrition science into practical habits that support performance, recovery, and long-term health.
