Today, August 4th, marks the birthday of our dear friend and colleague, Teresa Yenser, whom we sorrowfully lost in early December 2019. If you knew Teresa, you will agree that she was a bundle of energy, she spoke from the heart, and she accepted challenge after challenge. She believed in people and she used the positive energy from others to help herself achieve. And she achieved so much! In all of this, she found every opportunity to be thankful for the challenges she faced, for the learning moments that came with these challenges, for the efforts of others, and for the gifts she had been given.
Not only was Teresa thankful herself, she also spread the value of intentional gratitude to those around her, in her personal life and work life. It is an understatement to say that this expression of gratitude inspired everyone who knew her to be better ourselves.

The research shows that regular expressions of gratitude are related to improved health, happiness and performance. We believe there is no better way to celebrate Teresa’s impact on our lives than to align it with our commitment to Mind, Body and Spirit. And in our current environment, every one of us could use a reminder to count the blessings around us. So, on this day, we would like to welcome you to the Spooner Physical Therapy Day of Gratitude.

To be honest, our Day of Gratitude is more like a launch of what we expect will be an ongoing chain reaction. August 4th marks the launch, and we hope you will carry on the expression of gratitude in your own unique and creative ways. Our only request is that you keep it going!

Over the coming days, weeks and months, we challenge you to go out of your way to see the kindness around you. Make a point to thank someone directly or someone who is unsuspecting. Buy a coffee for your colleague at work. Send a thank you note (using old school pen, paper and a stamp) to a friend, relative, neighbor or someone that has gone out of their way to make your day a little brighter. Imagine the positive energy that will be spread! Have fun and make someone’s day. It is that simple.

In much sincere gratitude,
Tim, Julianne, Michelle and LaRissa
